Activities

Monthly Speakers

Many of the monthly meetings have themed speakers.  These speakers may talk about agriculture events, restoration, trips and tours they have taken, and other events that can broaden the interests and knowledge of the club membership.

Tours and Events

Throughout the year, the Central Illinois Green Club organizes trips to museums, manufacturing facilities, farms, and tractor collections.

Ride the River

Ride the River is the club’s by-yearly tractor drive.  Originally, it was started in conjunction with Kankakee Community College to fund scholarships for college students studying agriculture and horticulture. Usually there are approximately 100 riders and dozens of sponsors for each of the rides that have been held.  The first Ride the River was in 2008 and over the years, the proceeds of the ride have allowed the Central Illinois Green Club to raised over $37.000.00 for the KCC student scholarship. Beginning in 2014, Ride the River proceeds went to local Future Farmers of America Chapters.  This established our commitment to give back to the community, and help students with a desire to continue their studies in agriculture and horticulture. Starting in 2022, the proceeds from the tractor drive will be used for club activities.  Please see the Ride The River main page to for more information on the most current ride and previous rides.
